2010 PIA CHILI COOKOFF!

Girl Scouts from Troop 50242 Brentwood

Girl Scouts from Troop 50242 visited PIA to explore aviation with us. What a great day! The girls enjoyed jumping into the planes and seeing what an aircraft is like first hand.  They asked alot of really great questions that kept their tour guides on their toes. Thanks for coming girls and we hope you continue exploring the world around you!

Cessna 172

October 25th, 2010

PIA’s newest aircraft acquisition arrived this week. This Cessna 172 was bought locally, prepped, and flown to AGC where it is now going under some fuel tank maintenance. Once completed, this beautiful aircraft will be flown down to join PIA’s newest campus in Hagerstown, MD.

Students participated in the Borough of West Mifflin Crime Watch Parade!

West Mifflin Parade

 

Ms.Goodwin along with several student participated in the West Mifflin Crime watch parade . They had a great time throwing out candy to the kids and representing PIA as an intrigal part of the West Mifflin community.

Egg drop at PIA???

Ms. Goodwin’s Physics students did an egg drop to study free fall and force.
There is always something egg-citing going on at PIA.
Students get to be creative and it is always interesting to see what they come up with.

PIA Golfteam

September 13th, 2010

PIA played it’s third match of the fall season recently at Norvelt Golf Course. PIA has six students on the team , Derrick Simmons, Dakota Yost, Tom Gray, Jesse Makey, Rob Elliott, and Josh Kerti. Our next match is September 11 at our home course, Cedarbrook golf course. Currently PIA has two students in the running for a chance to go to regional’s. Financial Aid Deadlines

Deadlines
• First-time applicants: August 1 if you plan to enroll in business, trade or technical schools, hospital schools of nursing, or two-year non-transferable programs at other institutions.
• Renewal applicants: May 1 is the deadline to submit your renewal FAFSA. To notify PHEAA of any changes such as marital status, reduced income, medical/dental expenses, or other life events, complete the appropriate State Grant Document.
• Summer-term applicants: August 15 is the deadline for students attending classes during summer term who wish to apply for a Pennsylvania Summer State Grant.

PIA 2010 Technician Job Fair: Employers Part 3

The final two companies in attendance will be…

Sikorsky Aircraft (http://www.sacusa.com) This Sikorsky facility is based at Horseheads, NY. Here they assemble, test, and ship Blackhawk helicopters to our allies overseas. On top of that, there is some research and development happening on the military’s next generation of rotorcraft happening on sight as well.

Sierra Nevada (http://sncorp.com) Based in Hagerstown, MD, SNC is a secretive government contractor that works with the federal government on many different projects. Want more information? You better come see them in person!
