PIA's Heavy Equipment Operation training offers complete training for entry-level heavy equipment operators.Students train for careers operating late-model bulldozers, backhoes, skid steer loaders, and excavators.
You’ll also learn how to use the construction-related equipment for, but not limited to:
- Land clearing
- Culverts and ponds
- Ditches for utilities
- Pipe laying
- Road building
- Foundation excavation
- Compaction and grading

Construction is one of the largest service industries in the country. The opportunities in this field are excellent for the properly-trained and hard-working individual. Heavy equipment operators hold a very important position in the construction industry. These workers provide services in the construction and maintenance of dams, flood control systems, bridges, landscaping, housing, reclamation, pipelines, and logging. Heavy equipment operators and small earth-moving contractors also work with companies that provide utilities such as telephone, electric, gas, and water service. The need for heavy equipment operators and small earth-moving contractors is almost endless.

What type of equipment will I train on?
Train on our NEW Hydraulic Excavator Simulator! You will also train on the four main pieces of equipment: bull dozers, excavators, back hoes, and skid steer loaders.

The construction industry is currently hiring at record levels. Employment opportunities have been available to our graduates due to the high construction demand.
How many students are enrolled in each class?
Our class sizes never exceed seven students per class. We want to allow ample hands-on time for every student to become proficient on each piece of equipment.
How often do classes start?
Heavy equipment operator classes start every four weeks.
