PITTSBURGH INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS YOUNGSTOWN CAMPUS HONORED WITH NATIONAL SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE AWARD
The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) has honored Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) with a national School of Excellence Award for their commitment to the expectations and rigors of ACCSC accreditation, as well as for maintaining high levels of achievement among students.
ACCSC cited that graduation rates and student employment from the program at PIA’s Youngstown Campus were among the criteria for the national recognition. In 2015, 93% of graduates eligible for employment began their careers within 6 months (pia.edu/career-services/).
PIA was honored at ACCSC’s annual conference on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at the Omni San Diego in San Diego, CA.
“We are honored to accept this recognition and credit is due entirely to our dedicated faculty and professional staff,” said Suzanne Markle, Executive Vice President of PIA. “This commendation is a reflection of a team of people with incredibly deep commitment to graduate career success and high-quality, industry-relevant instruction.
Since 2006, Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics’ Youngstown Branch campus has been training certified and work-ready aviation maintenance technicians in high demand with a 16-month diploma program in Aviation Maintenance Technology.

PIA & Mr. Butch Adams, Campus Director, were honored to host the Maryland State Officials from Governor Hogan’s Cabinet who came to visit PIA Hagerstown on Oct 14th. The focus of the visit was to provide information about careers in aviation maintenance and PIA’s commitment to the local community. Among the representatives present were from local Joint VA Council, the American Legion and the VFW as well as James Ports, Maryland Department of Transportation, Deputy Secretary.
