Commemorative Airforce

Oct 11, 2011

PIA is a proud sponsor of the Red, White and Loud tour!

The Commemorative Air Force and country music star/patriot Aaron Tippin will launch the CAF's Red, White & Loud Tour celebrating America's freedom through song and the roaring radial engines of one of the world's most famous warbirds.

At each tour stop, one of the CAF's famous warbirds will arrive with Aaron Tippin aboard. Once qualified, Aaron will begin co-piloting some of the aircraft to future stops. Audiences of the CAF's Red, White & Loud Tour will have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Aaron perform such songs as Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagles Fly and You've Got to Stand For Something in front of one of America's national treasures, a historic warbird!

Girls Scouts visit PIA -Youngstown

Aug 17, 2011

PIA hosted an Aviation Exploration day for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio last week. When the girls and their troop leaders arrived at the campus we gave them a little history lesson on Rosie the Riveter and how PIA can help them become part of the Rosie the Riveter legacy. Current PIA student, Kim Conrad, spoke to the girls on what it is like to be a woman in aviation and what got her interested in the field. After a campus tour, Instructor Bill Ogle gave the ladies a short lesson on aerodynamics. With this knowledge, they put together small wooden airplanes for a race on the tarmac! We are looking forward to our next Girl Scout visit on June 7, 2012!

Girls with Wings said it best-

Girls need flight plans, not fairy tales! TM

Pittsburgh 2011 Open House and Car Cruise

Aug 08, 2011

The rain may have kept away some of the awesome hot rods we have grown used to seeing at our car cruise, but it didn't keep away our visitors! It was exciting day for those visiting our Pittsburgh campus for the first time. Our Instructors and student volunteers talked about the hands on projects they work on and what is it like to be a PIA student. Classes are filling up quickly! If you were not able to make it to the open house, call and schedule your personal tour today! 1-800-444-1440!
