2012 Men's All Events Champion

Congratulations to Mr. Andrew Whaley who accomplished something no one else has done at PIA. In the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference he won  the men's all events catagory, 

 took second in men's singles and also placed second in men's doubles. In the Pennsylvania Collegiate Athletic Association State Tournament, Mr. Whaley placed first in men all events catagory

 bowling a 1685 and he tied for first place in men's singles. Mr. Whaley is pictured below with all his  trophies from the 2012 bowling season.

Electronics equipment donated to main campus

Uniflight - West Penn located in Belle Vernon, PA donated  electronics panels, adapters, and wiring harness to PIA -Pittsburgh Campus. This  equipment will allow us to accommodate more students at one time on a project

 and to test different units than we ran in the past.It is through aviation companies like Uniflight that we are able to offer a wide variety of equipment for our students to learn from.

2012 PIA Bowling Team Makes School History!!

On February 10, 2012, the Western Pennsylvania Collegiate Conference held its 2012 Bowling Tournament at Playmor Bowling Lanes in West Mifflin, PA. Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics won its first every Men's Bowling title. The team members are, Andrew Whaley, Travis Carson, Nick Withrow, Ryan Graham, Nick Myers, Kevin Kerr and Bruce Thompson. Andrew Whaley placed first in Men's All Events while Travis Carson placed fourth in Men's All Events. In Men's singles Mr. Whaley placed second and Mr. Carson posted a fourth place finish. In Men's Doubles the team of Carson/Whaley placed second overall and the team of Graham/Myers placed fourth. The WPCC was represented by three CCAC Campuses; Boyce- North- South, WCCC, Westmoreland Community College and PIA.

CDL Instructors Wanted!

PIA currently has openings for CDL instructors at its training locations in West Mifflin, PA, and Clarksburg, WV.

Description: Truck Driving instructors conduct classes to assist students in gaining the knowledge needed to pass the CDL written examinations, and guide students in the tractor trailer for hands-on driving and maneuvering instruction and practice.  Hours for this position are primarily Monday through Thursday, from 7:00am to 5:30pm, with occasional weekend/evening assignments.

Minimum Requirements: Candidates must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL); clean driving record; 5+ years of driving experience; and be able to pass the DOT physical and drug testing.  Candidates who meet the minimum requirements who also have previous teaching experience and/or experience in the operation of heavy equipment are encouraged to apply.

Myrtle Beach Ribbon Cutting Ceremony 2012

On January 12, 2012 PIA cut the ribbon to it's fourth location in Myrtle Beach, SC.

 We were pleased  to have Tom Rice - Horry County Council President, 

John Rhodes, Mayor of Myrtle Beach,  H. Neyle Wilson - President,

Horry Georgetown Technical College, John Graham III - President, PIA,

Suzanne Markle - Executive Vice President, PIA and Peg Jackson- Campus Director,

PIA as our speakers.

  

There were countless hours of planning, meetings and work that went

 into opening up this location.We could not have done it without our partners at HGTC,

Myrtle Beach Economic Development Board,

 Myrtle Beach Community Appearance board, the City of Myrtle Beach,

 Horry County and of course PIA faculty and staff.

Myrtle Beach gets FAA Certification

Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics- Myrtle Beach Campus was presented its official FAA certification yesterday. Pictured below is our branch campus Director, Peg Jackson who says, " It's such an exciting time for us at PIA and I'm very proud to be part of it."
