Girls Scouts visit PIA -Youngstown
PIA hosted an Aviation Exploration day for the Girl Scouts of Northeast Ohio last week. When the girls and their troop leaders arrived at the campus we gave them a little history lesson on Rosie the Riveter and how PIA can help them become part of the Rosie the Riveter legacy. Current PIA student, Kim Conrad, spoke to the girls on what it is like to be a woman in aviation and what got her interested in the field. After a campus tour, Instructor Bill Ogle gave the ladies a short lesson on aerodynamics. With this knowledge, they put together small wooden airplanes for a race on the tarmac! We are looking forward to our next Girl Scout visit on June 7, 2012!
Girls with Wings said it best-
Girls need flight plans, not fairy tales! TM
