Pittsburgh Promise

Most high school seniors may think a Post-Secondary education is not obtainable, especially with our current economy.  Students seeking careers in Aviation Maintenance, Aviation Electronics, Mechanical Systems and Electrical Systems may qualify for financial assistance to alleviate some of the educational costs associated with a Post-Secondary degree.

Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics participates in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Promise scholarship as a community commitment to provide students and families of the Pittsburgh Public schools financial support.  Eligible students will be awarded the Pittsburgh Promise scholarship for tuition and mandatory fees not covered by federal and state grants.

PIA trains some of the world's finest technicians. With job opportunities around the globe, we train the next generation of skilled craftsmen within the aviation and non-aviation fields. In the same time it takes to earn a bachelor's degree, successful PIA graduates will have earned an AST degree and experience on the job. We are committed to our students' achievement in the classrooms, shops, and life.

Utilizing the Pittsburgh Promise awards are intended to motivate and enable our students to focus on being successful without the stress of a financial burden.

"The Pittsburgh Promise has enabled me to fulfill my dream of becoming an Aeronautical Technician.  It provided the financial support I needed.  Without the Pittsburgh Promise paying for school would have been extremely difficult.  Also, it alleviated some of the financial burden associated with utilizing student loans."

Fabio Bonaventura

4th Quarter AMT Student

Anticipated Graduation Date: March, 2012

Housing
About PIA

HOUSING

One of the most common questions I hear in Admissions is 'Where am I going to live since you don't have dorms?' or 'Where is my son/daughter going to stay for school and is it safe?'  I remember when I went off to college (cough... over a decade and a half ago) it was fairly simple because I stayed in a dorm, but I also remember it was awfully expensive and my parents and I had no control over it.  While moving to school at PIA isn't quite as simple as attending a school with a dorm, you can work to set your sights on a place within your budget.

To make this search easier, PIA provides a list of properties that have been used by PIA students in the past as well as several new listings.  This list is not a recommendation or guarantee by PIA.  In addition, the Internet can also be a powerful tool when searching on one's own.  A property should be selected based on its own merit and convenience according to the student's needs.  All arrangements are between the student and the property manager or owner.  PIA IS NOT INVOLVED IN THESE AGREEMENTS IN ANY MANNER.

-Steven D. Sabold, Supervisor of Admissions
