International Students

Students across the globe have chosen Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics for their education. PIA’s focus on technology and aviation training allows individuals to pursue a technical education in industries offering opportunities for advancement and further education.

PIA is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students. International students who wish to attend PIA must comply with the following requirements:

  • Certification of an acceptable grade on the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) written computer-based, or Internet-based exam, or verification of English language proficiency by educational transcripts. *
  • Verification of financial ability to meet school and living expenses.
  • Provide name of the student’s sponsor while attending PIA.

When each of these requirements has been satisfied, the prospective student must submit a completed admissions application and registration fee. PIA will then issue a SEVIS form I-20. Students at PIA may be approved for M-1 status.

*Acceptable TOEFL scores can be obtained by contacting PIA’s Office of Admissions.

Five years later I moved to Minneapolis, MN, to work for Northwest in the wheels and brakes shop. After finding out the real meaning of winter, I returned to the 'Burgh and USAir as it was called. I spent 18 years...

"PIA showed me the way! I started working for US Airways in Harrisburg, PA three days after my graduation. Currently, I'm working on helicopters for the Maryland State Police. There's nothing else I'd rather be doing. This is a great field and PIA was THE school to go to!"
