PIA’s School of Specialized Technology (Aviation & Technology Programs) holds the following approvals:

  • Approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education to award an Associate in Specialized Technology Degree
  • Licensed by the Pennsylvania State Board of Private Licensed Schools
  • Approved by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) to participate in the FFELP and the Federal Direct Student Loan Program
  • Approved as a member of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency Scholarship Plan
  • Approved by the Ohio State Board of Proprietary School Registration
  • Approved by the State College System of West Virginia
  • Authorized under Federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students
  • Federal Aviation Administration Avionics Repair Station Certificate HE1R189K
  • Federal Aviation Administration approval
  • Approved for the training of veterans
  • Approved by the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
  • Accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSC)
  • Aviation Electronics program is accredited by National Center for Aerospace & Transportation Training (NCATT)






    PIA took me from my high school days of just "getting by" and passing the time until school was over, to preparing for an industry where school never ends. I recieved my A&P license in 1981, and went to work for Allegheny Commuter in Youngstown, OH, then Parkersburg, WV. Five years later I moved to Minneapolis, MN, to work for Northwest in the wheels and brakes shop. After finding out the real meaning of winter, I returned to the 'Burgh and USAir as it was called. I spent 18 years...
