Upward Bound Visits PIA Myrtle BeachStacy El-Khatib
A big thank you to Thyssene Frederick with Upward Bound and Horry Georgetown Technical College for bringing a group of students in grades 10-12 from Loris HS and Carvers Bay HS to PIA’s Myrtle Beach Campus. These students are participants in the Upward Bound Program, a federal TRIO grant that serves first-generation college bound students. The students learned about the AMT program offered at the Myrtle Beach Branch Campus and the career opportunities for aircraft mechanics as a STEM job. After touring each shop in the school they finished the day by teaming up for a fun competition in the paper airplane challenge. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to enlighten these students with the educational options of their future as well as the career opportunities that await them after high school.
