American Airlines VisitEdward Molek
PIA Pittsburgh hosted representatives from American Airlines on Wednesday, January 29, 2020. The visit included 10 employees from both American Airlines and its subsidiary Piedmont Airlines. The group toured the facilities, allowing them to see students in action as they worked in their shops. They were also able to participate in a roundtable discussion with PIA staff members, where they learned more about the programs offered by the school.
As a result of the visit, PIA and American hope to continue to strengthen their relationship and address the technician shortage that is present in the industry. American Airlines plans to be more present at PIA campuses, by attending career fairs and open house events in the future. In addition, American Airlines will be sponsoring the travel of three PIA Aerospace Maintenance Competition Teams in April. The students and coaches will be flying to Dallas to participate in the competition.
Roxanne Ober, Director of Admissions & Outreach at PIA, said she is thankful for the relationship between the two organizations. “We look forward to working with the PIT American Airlines team in the future,” says Ober.
PIA would like to thank Kevin Dallaire, Recruiting Manager for Piedmont Airlines, and John Falbo, Senior Manager of Technical Operations at American Airlines Pittsburgh Base, for facilitating the visit to PIA.
