Allegheny County Executive Visits PIA

Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and Director of Community Affairs Mary Esther Van Shura visited PIA’s Main Campus on Tuesday, May 1st.  As County Executive, Fitzgerald has worked improve the local economy and support a higher-livability standard in Allegheny County.  Part of his efforts in the role of County Executive has involved visiting local institutions of higher education to see what opportunities the county has to offer its residents.

While touring the facilities, Mr. Fitzgerald was able to speak with students at PIA who also fall under his constituency in both the Aviation Maintenance and Aviation Electronics programs.  He was able to watch students completing engine testing on the Learjet, as well as  observe 6th quarter powerplant students during their lessons.  He was also able to tour the airframe and avionics classrooms.

We would like to thank Mr. Fitzgerald for taking the time to visit the campus and see what a unique educational opportunity PIA has to offer.
