Employer Visits Go VirtualKarin McKenna
With the COVID-19 pandemic presenting challenges to almost every organization, PIA Career Services has found new ways to connect employers and students. While several organizations have been able to make the trip to PIA locations to interact with students, virtual visits by employers have allowed students to continue to interact with prospective employers.
Several aviation companies have virtual events scheduled at PIA campuses in the coming weeks. Dynamic Aviation met with third and fourth-semester students on October 14th at PIA Hagerstown. Despite being a virtual event, the organization sent company swag ahead of time to be handed out to students and even provided lunch for those in attendance. PIA Hagerstown also plans to virtually host Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services on October 19th.
Lockheed Martin, Piedmont Airlines, and JSFirm have all made trips to PIA locations in the last several weeks. The companies have continued to share information about their organization with students, assisted in mock interviews, and conducted job interviews with students. Student Services Coordinator Janet Heim, of PIA Hagerstown, continues to work to bring employers to PIA virtually or in-person. Despite the pandemic, she says, “our students are having the opportunity to interact with a variety of employers and organizations to help provide information for their job searches.”
