Future PIA Student Awarded Mike Rowe Scholarship

Each year, The Work Ethic Scholarship Program recognizes deserving individuals who understand the value of trade skills and careers.  Elise Krause, who will begin her training at PIA Hagerstown in the Fall of 2021, was a recipient of the Work Ethic Scholarship this year.  Krause will receive a $7,500 scholarship to help with costs associated with earning her Airframe & Powerplant Certification.

Krause began her higher education at a local community college studying Russian.  Her part-time job exposed Krause to changing tires and oil at a local shop and inspired her search for a more hands-on career.  Krause expressed, “If I could only do this job as a profession, working with my hands.  So, I started to research trade schools and came upon PIA.”

After completing the admissions process, Krause was encouraged to apply for the scholarship and ultimately took the ‘S.W.E.A.T. Pledge’.  Her dedication to hard work and personal responsibility resulted in her receipt of the award.
