Cameron Buchanan was inspired to pursue a career in aviation by his father, David, who is an AMT at American Airlines. “I’m very grateful to have an idol like him,” says Buchanan.
After graduating from PIA Youngstown in 2020, Buchanan started his career as an AMT at MHI RJ in Bridgeport, WV, where he performed C and H checks on CRJ Series aircraft. “It was amazing to be part of such an in-depth and detailed operation,” says Buchanan, who was quickly promoted to crew chief. Soon after, he had the opportunity to literally follow in his father’s footsteps by joining American Airlines, which he accepted.
“After only 8 months at my first job, I was invited to work at the company I had been dreaming of working for since I was in middle school,” says Buchanan. “At age 20, this career has already taken me further than I ever imagined in such a short time. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and this industry.”
