Employment:
United Airlines, Aircraft Maintenance Technician
While working as a professional welder, Sean Farrell saw an intriguing job post for a welding technician at American Airlines. There was just one problem: he didn’t have his Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license. Knowing an A&P license would open new career doors, Farrell decided to enroll at PIA Hagerstown.
After graduating in 2021, Farrell was hired as an A&P mechanic at SkyWest Airlines in Indiana. In 2022, he moved to Virginia to start a new job as an aviation line maintenance technician for United Airlines. “I’m on the flight line, so I work on the plane when it pulls up to the gate and I am responsible for it until it leaves,” says Farrell. His daily efforts ensure United’s planes stay on schedule with few maintenance interruptions.
“I truly do believe that my education at PIA is the reason I am now with United,” says Farrell. “I never would have thought that in such a short time I would be offered my dream job to work at one of the largest airlines in the world.”
