Horatio Alger Association Scholarship

PIA would like to encourage eligible students to submit their application for the Horatio Alger Association Scholarship.  Over 1,000 scholarships will be awarded for students pursuing studies at community colleges and non-profit institutions.  The maximum award amount for the scholarship is $2,500.

Since 1984, the Horatio Alger Association has awarded over $175 million in college scholarships to deserving students.  Through nationally recognized educational programs, the Association reaches out directly to our nation’s young people with a message of hope, opportunity, responsibility, and perseverance.  We are proud to continue providing support for students seeking to pursue career or technical education in a post-secondary environment.  This program provides financial assistance to students throughout the nation who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity.

Career & Technical Scholarship Eligibility Criteria:

  • Have completed high school (or earned a high school equivalency credential)
  • Will be enrolled in an eligible program in Fall 2019
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a career or technical program (up to 2 years) at an accredited non-profit post-secondary institution in the United States
  • Demonstrated critical financial need (must be eligible to receive the Federal Pell grant as determined by completion of the FAFSA)
  • Demonstrated perseverance in overcoming adversity
  • Be under the age of 30
  • Be a United States citizen
