SALISBURY, MD – On April 20, Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics (PIA) – Hagerstown joined forces with Piedmont Airlines to host students and staff from Somerset County Technical High School (SCTHS) in Westover, MD. Piedmont Airlines is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the American Airlines Group (AAG). The tour gave participants a firsthand glimpse into the work-life of a Piedmont Airlines Aviation Maintenance Technician at Salisbury Regional Airport, where Piedmont has a maintenance base and its corporate headquarters.
Thanks to tour organizers Teri Klaverweiden, Talent Acquisition, Corporate & Maintenance for Piedmont Airlines, in collaboration with PIA Director of Admissions and Outreach Roxanne Ober and PIA Admissions Representative Brandon Weiss, and SCTHS organizing instructor John “Buddy” Ward, who teaches Automotive Technology.
Presenters were Piedmont Airlines employees Kurt Yorgey, Director of Maintenance – Salisbury, and Melissa Preslar, Maintenance Recruiter, and Weiss. Tour guides were PIA Graduate and Piedmont Manager of Maintenance Control Jason Culver and Dezron Wilson, Piedmont Maintenance Recruiter.
“It was a great day for students to explore and be directly exposed to the power of a PIA education and the career paths that it could lead to,” said Brandon Weiss.
