PIA Youngstown Welcomes King Air KA-350ER to Training Fleet

It’s here. ✈️

The Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics’ Youngstown Campus officially welcomed a King Air KA-350ER to its training fleet.

The aircraft, formerly operated by the U.S. Air Force as part of the MC-12W Liberty program, will now serve a new mission — helping train the next generation of aviation maintenance technicians.

For students, this means even more hands-on experience working on a real-world turbine aircraft platform widely used throughout the aviation industry. Along with the aircraft, the campus also received a PT-6A engine, giving students valuable exposure to one of the industry’s most recognized turboprop engines.

“Hands-on training is the cornerstone of our program,” said Campus Director Joe DeRamo. “The addition of the plane and its PT-6A engine enhances our students’ learning environment. We’re proud to continually invest in resources and grow the program we offer at the Youngstown Airport.”
