Third Engine Donation for PIA Received by Myrtle Beach Campus
PIA Myrtle Beach unloaded a TFE 731-3 engine into their shop thanks to the generous efforts of Chris Bodine of StandardAero. Mr. Bodine, the Vice President/General Manager of Standard Aero’s Augusta location, made the donation suggestion at PIA’s Career Fair, held in Myrtle Beach on October 7th. A short time later, the engine was lifted from its shipping crate into its engine stand with the help of staff and students.
“It was an early Christmas for students and staff thanks to this complete engine donation,” says Peg Skalican, Campus Director of PIA Myrtle Beach, “Our thanks to Chris and the team at Standard Aero for thinking of us.”
The donation from Standard Aero is the third engine to be received by PIA in 2021, with both PIA Pittsburgh and PIA Hagerstown receiving engines from industry partners.
“Donations like this support our ability to prepare students for their transition into the aviation industry,” says President and CEO Suzanne Markle. “StandardAero recognizes the importance of training students on modern engines and the most sought-after aircraft technologies. Their efforts to enhance our student’s education by providing unique instructional experiences is a testament to their investment in our graduates’ future, and to the future of the aviation industry – and for this we are grateful.”
Individuals and/or organizations interested in submitting equipment donations to PIA should contact the school directly.
