United Airlines Sponsoring Youngstown Team at AMC
Team PIA Youngstown will be traveling to the Aerospace Maintenance Competition for the third year in a row this year, made possible in part by a generous donation by United Airlines.
United Airlines has taken a special interest in the Youngstown AMC Team after their first year in the competition. Last year, students who participated in the competition traveled to Cleveland prior to the event and trained alongside United Cleveland, one of the airlines’ participating teams.
United will cover the costs of travel, hotel, and registration fees for the team. In addition, students will train for the competition alongside United teams as they prepare at the companies Houston and Chicago bases. Overall, the total donation received by United exceeds $10,000 and is the largest that PIA has received towards the Aerospace Maintenance Competition. Representatives were on campus on Wednesday, February 19th, to present the sponsorship to students and coaches.
Students in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semester will be taking part in the competition. Tom Repula, a PIA Instructor and Coach of the AMC Team, said that selecting students from all terms in the school is important to give each semester the opportunity to have the experience.
PIA would like to thank all of those involved at United Airlines who made this possible. It is with great pride that we announce Team Youngstown, sponsored by United Airlines and Airborne Maintenance and Engineering Services!
